JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The UW-Madison School of Education (SOE) is consistently ranked as one of the best in the nation. According to the 2023-24 U.S. News and World Report \'Best Graduate Schools\' rankings, UW-Madison\'s School of Education is No. 3 - marking the 10th straight year it has been ranked among the top five. One of the School of Education\'s great strengths is its breadth and potential for interdisciplinary collaboration across a range of departments and programs in the arts, health, and education. It is unlike any other school of education in the country due to this unique grouping of academic departments. MERIT leads the SOE community in efforts to utilize information and technology to empower teaching, learning, and research in these areas. The System Engineer is an important position within the IT team, responsible for a diverse portfolio of IT systems. You will design, implement, and maintain a variety of IT infrastructure systems, including Windows and Linux servers, applications, networks, security systems, and more. You will enjoy the freedom and encouragement to work both independently on projects and tasks and collaboratively with a team of highly skilled IT professionals within SOE and the greater campus. This position has the option for hybrid-a blend of onsite and remote-or fully onsite work. This position will report to the School of Education\'s Information Security Officer. This position will be the primary engineer responsible for the design, implementation, management, and support of new and current IT systems that provide a variety of critical services and applications to SOE users. The School of Education is continually assessing our IT infrastructure, providing exciting opportunities to work with Windows and Linux servers, public and private cloud platforms, automation solutions, and other modern technologies.
