JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Radiation Oncology Physics Section at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Human Oncology, is seeking a medical physicist with strong clinical skills to engage in radiation oncology physics activities. The successful candidate will participate in high-level clinical development and application of radiation oncology imaging, treatment planning, and delivery systems to further the advancement of treatment options and patient care. The Radiation Oncology Physics section currently employs 17 physicists and four physics residents. The position will focus primarily on practicing clinical radiation oncology physics services provided at the UW Health Cancer Centers, including coverage in the department\'s outreach clinics which are physically separate from the University Hospital as necessary. Additional responsibilities, based on the candidate\'s interests and accomplishments, will include clinical research and development in alignment with the programmatic goals of the department, as well as teaching of medical students, residents and fellows. UW is a state-of-the-art integrated clinical and research facility that includes the latest technological advancements including a Viewray MRIDIAN Linac with daily online adaptive radiation therapy, four Varian TrueBeams (one STx), two AccuRay Tomotherapy HDA, and two Elekta Flexitron Remote Afterloaders. Advanced simulation capabilities are routinely integrated into clinical practice including Siemens dual-energy computed tomography and 1.5 T GE MR-simulator units. Automated planning is employed via robust use of RayStation coupled with MIM. Our department is vibrant, growing, and coverage is currently situated across 3 locations with a major expansion in 2023 introducing new technology commissioning and development opportunities with proton therapy and upright treatments. We offer a broad range of special procedures, including SRS/SBRT, TBI, TSE, and brachytherapy for a wide range of treatment sites (e.g., GYN, breast, prostate) with MRI-guided planning and BodyTom CT for image verification.
