JOB REQUIREMENTS: Our West Towne location is offering a \$1,000.00 signing bonus for availability until 9:30pm! Summary: The Deli Department Clerk will provide front line customer service within the Deli Department by preparing Deli items for sale and as requested by customers. Performs duties that comply with local health code and follow proper safe food handling procedures and standards. This position requires working weekends and holidays based on department staffing requirements. Essential Duties: Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Assists customers with all inquiries and requests Demonstrates excellent customer service standards Fills customer special orders by obtaining and preparing items from other departments as requested Writes orders, prepares deli items and describes availability of specialty products as needed or as requested by department management Wraps, weighs, labels and displays food items Ensures accurate pricing by placing the corresponding price and ingredient labels on each package Stocks display case and rotates merchandise Operates machinery by following proper department production and safety standards, as needed Cleans, sanitizes and resets work area, including shelves, bins, tables, coolers, equipment and utensils in compliance with health code standards Inspects and reassembles equipment for use and perform routine maintenance as assigned Follows safe food handling and local health department standards Sustains a high level of product knowledge and product preparation Works toward continuous quality improvement Upholds, supports, and promotes all company policies and procedures Other duties as assigned Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required. Physical Demands: Talk and listen; stand and walk; push and pull; reach and lift, grasp and feel; climb, balance, kneel and stoop; repetitive motion; vision to distinguish for pricing and food safety. Weight/force used average 20 lbs and periodically up to maximum 50 lbs. Environment and Equipment: Retail may be fast-paced and noisy, with time-sensitive activities and service required. Equipment may include computers and phones, food safety and preparation tools and appliances, compactor, and power jack. Temperatures may vary for coolers, freezers, around heat-producing equipment, and during outdoor duties. Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Preferred, not required: 6 months of retail or grocery experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to read, write, perform basic math skills, and comprehend instructions. Ability to deal tactfully and positively with customers and team members. Ability to problem solve effectively. Proficiency with American money and weight system.
