Responsibilities

Job purpose

The Lift Truck Operator I role is responsible for loading and unloading finished goods trailers from nose to tail.

Duties and responsibilities

The primary job duties and responsibilities are:

  • Locate product identified on shipping document.

  • Operate lift truck to transport products from the warehouse to the loading area.

  • Complete product movement sheet when product is pulled from or returned to a location, to achieve inventory accuracy goals.

  • Verify that the design numbers and the quantities being loaded are the same as what is requested on the shipping documents.

  • Load and unload product by hand as specified in shipping document.

  • Store finished products and supplies received from other plants and vendors.

  • Inspect trailers and complete associated paperwork.

  • Secure trailers.

  • Maintains excellent housekeeping standards to maintain a safe work area.

  • Maintains effective communication with operators and plant supervision.

  • Immediately addresses and reports safety issues or hazards.

  • Maintains excellent safety record.

  • Maintains excellent attendance record.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience

Experience required:

  • At least six (6) months of warehouse experience.

  • At least one (1) year of forklift experience.

  • Experience with working in extreme weather conditions.

  • Demonstrated self-compliance with company policies and procedures.

Skills

An individual must have the following skills in the Shipping Loader position:

  • Interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work well with others.

  • Basic mathematics skills

  • Effective oral and written communication.

  • Ability to work in a self-directed position and a self-started.

Physical requirements

This position is located in a manufacturing location. Physical requirements will include but are not limited to:

  • Standing for lengthy periods of time (frequent)

  • Sitting for extended periods of time (frequent)

  • Climbing up/down stairs/ladders/platforms (occasional)

  • Working in a manufacturing environment that includes periods of hot and cold weather, dust, noise above 85 dBA, occasional odors, and moving equipment (frequent)

Working conditions

An individual that works in the Shipping Loader position:

  • Must be physically able to work in a hot/cold environment.

  • Must be forklift certified.

  • Must be physically capable of performing essential job duties.

  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds on a frequent basis.

  • Maintain an excellent driving record and have a personal vehicle.
