As a member of the Energy & Industrial Automation Strategy & Portfolio Innovation team, this role reports to EIA Director , Strategy & Portfolio Innovation and has global responsibility for identifying and leading enterprise-level initiatives and new business opportunities for EIA business. Serves as advisor to the leadership team and supports the business leaders. Conducts environmental scans, identifies, analyzes, and plans for emerging opportunities and disruptive trends transforming the business. Responsible for market intelligence monitoring, market research, market intelligence, and knowledge management. Responsible for providing strategy, planning, development, analysis, portfolio innovation, & acquisitions support across Energy & Industrial Automation . Manages large-scale strategy initiatives across the EAI and work closely with EIA Product Management and PDE teams.

What you’ll learn and achieve (job description details):

  • Leads global planning and development activities across the EIA portfolio, focusing on pipeline, strategic narrative and project financial development for both organic and inorganic opportunities.

  • Works across Energy & Industrial Automation leadership on the management and development of strategy plans.

  • Leads EIA Long-Range Planning activities including strategy and new solution development (horizon 2 and 3 products, offerings, services, digital, etc.).

  • Works with EIA operational and strategic leadership on the identification and execution of targeted expansion opportunities.

  • Works cross-functionally across the Strategy & Portfolio Innovation team to advance priority projects.

  • Gathers market intelligence, interface with external entities.

  • Closely collaborates with Enterprise & Advisory, Corporate Strategy and Corporate Development to Continuously define and refine EIA strategy, prioritize M&A opportunities, and create clear execution plans to integrate into the business.

  • Champions an engaged, inclusive and attractive work environment for UL employees with a winning culture.

  • Performs global market scans with a long-term view. Analyzes and interprets market research and intelligence to identify growth opportunities.

  • Conduct industry, market, competitive, & stakeholder intelligence research & analyses.

  • Researches possible growth opportunities related to new business services, new science / technology, and new industries.

  • Provides recommendations to the leadership team. Drives the development of strategic plans for the opportunities that have been selected for further pursuits.

What makes you a great fit (qualifications):

  • University degree (Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree) in Business Administration, Strategy, Science , Engineering or Finance is required. Advanced degree (Equivalent to a Master’s degree) preferred.

  • At least five (5) years of direct and progressive experience is required.

  • Ability to work within a complex and often ambiguous environment.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects with proven success in synthesizing large data sets related to a wide variety of functional business problems.

  • Demonstrated ability to express complex ideas, present results, and translate statistical and business terminology to various levels of management.

  • Demonstrated strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
