L3Harris Manager, Facilities & EHS in Lynchburg, Virginia

Job Description:

Manager, Facilities & EHS is a dual role position responsible for all Facilities/Maintenance management, as well as Environmental Health & Safety for the Public Safety sector.

Responsible for all 17 facilities; 2 sites in Lynchburg and 15 sites in the field. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing the maintenance technician team,landlord relationships, landscaping contracts, custodial service, and setting up third-party vendor services as needed.

The EHS manager will actively lead and/or participate with the team to provide technical documentation and coordinate processes across the site and field locations.Conducts Safety Walks, fire safety inspections and forklift training.

R esponsible for working with Corporate Real Estate, Legal, and field site leaders to create documents for lease renewals (drives initial approvals through lease execution).Includes assisting with capital expenditures, and new site setup of furniture, warehousing, security, and IT services.

Essential Functions:

  • Dual role position responsible for all Facilities/Maintenance management, as well as Environmental Health & Safety.

  • Facilities – responsible for all facilities management. PSPC sector includes 17 facilities across the factory and the field. This includes facilities maintenance, grounds and landscaping, and managing a contract custodial service. Develop project SOW, complete bidding process and follow through to project completion. Drives multiple capital expenditure projects each year such as the $2M HVAC replacement project at JRP. Includes physical work: some heavy lifting, working at heights, and wearing of PPE safety equipment is required. Be available to perform On-Call for afterhours and weekend availability.

  • Environmental Health & Safety - responsible for managing and facilitating the implementation of an effective EHS management system that will ensure ongoing compliance towards L3Harris EHS standards and regulatory compliance, while improving site EHS culture. The EHS manager will actively lead and/or participate with the EHS team to provide EHS project technical support and coordinate activities and processes across the site and field locations. Conducts Safety Walks, fire safety inspections and forklift training. Sponsor of Zero Injury Plan (ZIP) project teams for the factory and the field service sites. Presents monthly metrics and project updates to segment and corporate teams.

  • Real Estate - Segment Real Estate Representative (SRER) responsible for working with Corporate Real Estate, Legal, and field site leaders to create documents for lease renewals (drives initial approvals through lease execution). Includes assisting with new site setup of furniture, warehousing, security and IT service.

  • Community liaison for the business. Communicate with community leaders related to the business, including Lynchburg Department of Economic Development.Work closely with landlords and building owners to resolve concerns.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Proficient in CAD and/or Gensiute

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Presentation skills – must lead several key presentations to the business each month

  • Travel – minimal travel required (2-3 field site visits each year for safety inspections)
