Amazon’s Supply Chain Managers play a central role in our global business. They keep our complex, international supply chains working seamlessly and efficiently. As a Supply Chain Manager (SCM), you will work closely with multiple stakeholders across Amazon, from Operational teams who are fulfilling customer orders to Retail teams and everything in between. You’ll help us optimise our supply chains to make our customer experience even better and our business more energy and cost efficient.

Key job responsibilities

• Identify and implement capacity planning and management tools that will improve operational accuracy and efficiency

• Lead projects to define and align with leadership to deliver on capacity plan

• Communicate these plans and report on their execution to key stakeholders while continuously improving the planning and execution cycles

• Monitor performance by analyzing forecast and Key Performance Indicators; ensuring capacity to match volumes and providing guidance to Global Logistics Ops team

• Identify and mitigate capacity risks by making recommendations on managing dependencies across multiple operating units and sites. Clearly communicate dependencies and manage/track expectations on forecast accuracy

• Assess available technology to support our global capacity planning needs

• Prepare management reporting by collecting, analyzing, summarizing data and evaluating trends to develop recommendations

A day in the life

Being a Supply Chain Manager for Amazon involves lots of problem solving. You’ll work with a number of teams to navigate challenges as and when situations impact our network. You’ll spend time resolving temporary issues and looking at the bigger picture to drive Amazon towards achieving new objectives. This role is both proactive and reactive, and you’ll have the opportunity to help forecast and plan for new projects.

As a Supply Chain Manager, you’ll need to help with both on-the-ground tasks and more tactical work. No two days will be the same. You could spend one day helping to define our supply chain and operating models and the next assisting with a site’s resource plan for a busy period. Having so much variety in your role means you’ll be able to learn something new every day.

About the team

Global Logistics is a team of highly experienced logistics professionals, carrier specialists, and program managers focused on improving the speed and reliability of Amazon’s cross-border logistics capabilities.

The team is responsible for executing the timely movement of freight from global manufacturing hubs cross-border into Amazon’s international marketplaces for Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) sellers and Retail direct import vendors. Leveraging the capabilities of world-class logistics providers and internal Amazon supply chain solutions, Global Logistics increases selection and lowers cost for our customers.

The EU Imports Team is searching for a passionate and talented Senior Planner to manage Imports capacity across all EU regions. The Senior Capacity Planner will be responsible for building the long-term capacity strategy and coordinate our Retail and FBA Imports flows. This leader will determine the capacity required from the network based on forecast inputs and chart the path to solve capacity working across Forecasting, Supply Chain and Carrier Management teams. The Senior Capacity Planner will have goals to improve network utilization and On Time Deliveries. Because of the impact, this is a highly visible role with senior leaders and decisions makers in Global Logistics. The candidate will regularly lead business and planning reviews with senior operations leaders.

The ideal candidate will have a strong analytic background that enables them to manage network planning, a demonstrated ability to think broadly and strategically about supply chain initiatives and the ability to persuade executives to build consensus on objectives. They must be comfortable dealing with ambiguity, and enjoy identifying opportunities to design and implement long-term scalable solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience in supply chain

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree, or Master's degree in supply chain management, operations, engineering, analytics or related field

  • Experience leading process improvements
