Antech Diagnostics Senior Scientist, Statistical Genetics (Wisdom Panel) in Loveland, Colorado

Wisdom Panel is home to the world’s largest and most comprehensive canine and feline genotypic/phenotypic database, and a committed pet parent community passionate about helping us make our next discovery towards improving pet health. We are looking for an experienced Statistical Genetics scientist to join us as we forge the next chapter in companion animal genetics research. In this role, you will drive the agenda on large-scale canine/feline genetic association studies, lead discussion across industry and academia to highlight our discoveries, and establish a pipeline for doing this research at scale. Your discoveries will be translated into new product features, internal assets to drive our research forward, and peer-reviewed publications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead genome-wide association studies on tens of thousands of pets

Identify and/or develop the best tools and methods to analyze large genetic datasets paired with clinical data to understand complex conditions

Lead hypotheses generation from genetics and clinical datasets using best-in-class statistical genetics methodology

Develop and advocate for sound statistical approaches to validate multivariate models (including genetic and clinical inputs) for use in a clinical setting

Be the company’s domain expert in statistical genetics and translate these concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Collaborate across Product, Engineering, and R&D to define product and technical requirements

Draft, publish, and review manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications

Partner with data engineering to scope internal product features that enable reproducible, scalable and efficient statistical and/or genomic analysis pipelines

Work collaboratively across a team of bioinformaticians, data scientists, and clinical researchers

Education and Experience Required:

Ph.D. in Epidemiology, Statistical Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or a related field

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Expertise in applied statistical genetics

Experience with standard bioinformatics tools (e.g. Python, R, and SQL)

Experience with AWS, Azure or similar cloud technologies

Excellent communication skills

Strong background in statistics

Curiosity to collaborate across cultures, flexibility to work across time zones

Preferred:

Experience in the consumer genomics space

Experience with machine learning classification systems and/or polygenic risk scores

Experience with canine and/or feline genetics

The general salary range for this role is $113,200 - $155,000.

This is a hybrid role, located in either Fountain Valley, CA or Loveland, CO.
