About the role:

The Electrical Engineer III (EEIII) applies basic engineering principles and mature product knowledge to create component designs, test protocols, and build prototypes for water quality measuring instruments. The EEIII works in a multi-disciplined team focused on either new product development or products already in production.

This position is based in Loveland, Colorado and works out of our R&D building. It is part of the Electrical Engineering team.

In this role, you will:

  • Design and analyze electrical hardware circuits to reliably achieve functional requirements and quantitative specifications.

  • Design electrical tests to verify performance of electrical hardware circuits and demonstrate insensitivity of the design to parameters including component and manufacturing variation, temperature, humidity, aging, corrosion, ESD, EMS, and vibration and shock.

  • Completes requirements for Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews

  • Demonstrates a comprehensive, intensive, practical knowledge of a technical field and skill in applying this knowledge to the development of new methods, approaches, or procedures.

  • Participates and takes leadership role in technical discussions with the R&D organization and the Electrical Engineering team. Provides leadership to less experienced EEs.

  • Stays current in the electrical engineering discipline and incorporates new ideas and developments into projects as appropriate.

  • Develops timelines for responsible portions of product design and work. Keeps program manager, system engineer and EE Manager appraised of progress. Collaborates with other EEs and the larger product team to meet or exceed product requirements and project targets.

  • Travel to customer sites/other Hach locations 10%.

Are you qualified?

  • BS in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of directly relevant experience; or an MS in Electrical Engineering with 5 years of directly relevant experience

  • Has knowledge of commonly-used circuits, analysis and measurement tools

  • Has knowledge of ISO quality systems (specifically Design Controls/Product Realization) and related requirements.

  • Demonstrated skills and success in these areas:

  • Circuit design, modeling, performance analysis (SPICE) and tradeoff analysis.

  • Design and implementation of circuit testing in all phases of product development lifecycle.

  • Embedded systems development.

  • Sensor technology.

  • Low level analog signal processing, analog-to-digital conversion.

  • Low level analog measurements in the presence of noise.

  • PCB layout for AC signal integrity, DC signal integrity and EMC.

  • Electromechanical design and system integration testing.

  • Circuit design for EMC compliance.

Hiring into this position is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check and possible credit history review.

Compensation details:

The base salary range for this role is $105k - $125k. Factors that will be considered for the salary offered to the successful candidate include internal equity, years of direct job related and skill experience, and relevant job market.

This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
