Field Service Technician

Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Department: Field Service

Primary Location: Onsite at our Graingercustomer site in Louisville, KY

Position Summary

As a Field Service Technician, you'll become an expert on our fuel cell products that are installed in electric lift trucks. You'll be responsible for keeping everything running smoothly by conducting preventative maintenance and tackling any breakdowns. You'll install, service, and maintain fuel cells, order parts, and keep everything documented. Plus, you'll be the face of Plug to our customer personnel and and electric lift truck operators, so this role requires both strong technical skills as well as interpersonal skills.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and Service Fuel Cells: Keep fuel cells in top shape at customer sites
  • Diagnose and Troubleshoot: Use your skills to keep the fleet running smoothly
  • Specialized Service Procedures: Handle field retrofits and software/hardware upgrades
  • On-Call Support: Be ready to assist customers in emergencies
  • Order Parts and Tools: Ensure you have everything needed for top-notch service
  • High-Pressure Systems: Handle high-pressure hydrogen storage and related systems
  • Customer Communication: Maintain ongoing communication with customers and suppliers
  • Feedback and Reports: Provide regular updates on fuel cell performance and field issues
  • Administrative Duties: Complete incident reports, service logs, inventory maintenance & other documentation
  • Safety First: Follow and enforce safety procedures at all times
  • Travel: Travel as needed, always driving safely and adhering to traffic laws
  • Professional Representation: Always represent Plug Power in a professional manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Education: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: 3+ years in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting (formal training and education may substitute)
  • Licenses: Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
  • Physical: Able to lift 50 pounds regularly without assistance
  • Preferred: Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications
  • Skills: Computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), and dynamic interpersonal skills
  • Attributes: Excellent communication, creative problem-solving, independent work ability, dedication to quality, time management, punctuality, and reliability
  • Tools: Must provide own standard set of tools; specific fuel cell tools provided by Plug Power

Pay Rate:

$24.00 - $28.00
