Position: Assistant Plant Controller

Department: Accounting

Location: Louisville, KY

Salary Class: Exempt

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Supervise the daily operations of the accounting department which includes: accounts payable, livestock payables, yields, inventory reconciliation, billing, order invoicing, claims, and capital spending.

  • Review daily / weekly / monthly sales analysis.

  • Establish / maintain procedures and internal controls for the department.

  • Ensure team members are properly cross trained.

  • Prepare the daily and weekly P&L and review any variances.

  • Prepare and review month end journal entries.

  • Perform analytical review of the monthly Balance Sheet and P&L.

  • Assist with providing financial analysis to the GM and plant management team.

  • Complete monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements accurately and timely.

  • Review monthly / quarter end inventory counts for boxes, combos, and packaging.

  • Assist with reviewing expenses and providing information for the annual budget.

  • Collaborate with cross functional departments to problem solve and establish procedures and action plans to achieve targeted results

  • Work with the Plant Controller on special projects assigned by Corporate and/or local management.

  • Complete any ad hoc duties deemed necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • At least 5-7 years of supervisory experience required.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Computer skills.

  • Solid understanding of Accounting principles and procedures.

  • Ability to read and analyze financial statements.
