You will be using your skills and expertise to define, design, develop, test, certify and improve cutting-edge software products. Your technical duties involve the design and development of new software products throughout the product lifecycle.

Sierra Space's Orbital Mission and Services (OMS) division focuses on the design, build, and operations of small satellites in support of commercial services and national security space and offers two work locations: Louisville, Colorado and Centennial, Colorado.

As a network architect, you will perform the modeling and simulation of a variety of network topologies and connectivity to support multi-domain mission architectures (ground, constellations of spacecraft, and sensors), as well as analyze a wide variety data routing solutions to meet our customer's mission need.

You will have great latitude to be creative, conceiving and testing various approaches to determine which is best suited to meet technical and programmatic objectives.

You will work with across our engineering product teams to recommend candidate approaches that support the objectives at the mission, segment, system, and sub-system levels. You will identify key performance parameters and constraints to enable mission success and future capabilities.

You will also evaluate the mission effectiveness of the candidate approaches, balancing mission objectives against factors such as development and lifecycle costs.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

Developing network engineering models and simulations based on satellite and ground terminals for defense and security applications

Design network architectures for space and ground systems based on interoperability standards to implement a variety of data routing and optimization requirements.

Coordinate efforts with multiple mission partner organizations to understand and implement a global mesh network using a variety of protocols with constantly reconfiguring communications links

Must-haves:

Bachelor's of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related discipline and typically 6 or more years of relevant experience

Experience may be considered in lieu of education

Understanding of Computer Aided Engineering tools

Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices

Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams

Active Top Secret US Government security clearance with SCI eligibility

Preferred:

Mesh networking experience strongly preferred.

Experience performing network modeling, simulation and analysis using tools such as OPNET or other industry standards.

Experience developing custom models and simulations using software and software languages such as MatLab, Python, or C++.

Desire for new challenges, to be on the ground floor of an exciting capability for our nation, and to be part of the initial cadre developing a new multi-domain system.

Willingness to work on a small team performing complex engineering design evaluations for a diverse mission where everyone's input matters.

Masters of Science degree in Engine ring, Physics or related discipline

Experience with IP based networking with space communication systems including optical and RF.
