How will you make an impact?
We currently have an opportunity for a Process Leader t o lead a small Chemical Manufacturing Team, specialising in Distillation and Blending, through an anticipated period of change.
New Chemical Manufacturing Facilities are planned at the Loughborough Site and you will join us on the exciting journey of transitioning across the chemical processes, whilst maintaining normal production.
Ideally, the candidate will have several years of industrial experience in a chemical manufacturing company. We are looking for a self-motivated and energetic, enthusiastic person with a flexible approach to work. This role combines People Management with Technical Skills and requires a proactive hands-on approach.
What will you do?
Lead and develop a small team of Manufacturing Operators, working in batch chemical manufacturing (10-4000L scale)
Work in partnership with the other Manufacturing Process Leaders, dividing tasks as appropriate
Ensure safe operation of the chemical facilities through the systematic use and upkeep of standard operating procedures, risk assessments, COSHH assessments, batch process instructions and the change management process
Drive Continuous Improvement within the area, with emphasis on Visual Management, 5S and LEAN initiatives. Implement standards, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve safety, quality and operational performance
Work closely with QA, QC, Chemical Development and Engineering leveraging your problem-solving skills and technical expertise to introduce new processes, new products and solve quality and process issues
Responsible for organising scheduled batch production to meet delivery date commitments
Own and report team KPI metrics, interrogate data to anticipate and react to performance trends and process variations
Be a conduit for communication to and from your team - verbal, written and via digital communication platforms

How will you get here?
Education/Competence
Relevant chemistry/ chemical engineering/ manufacturing degree is preferred
Minimum 5 GCSE grades >=5 including Mathematics, English and a Science
A’Level in Science subject or equivalent, advantageous
Extensive plant level experience with significant proven supervisory experience
Technical understanding
Understanding of Kaizen, lean manufacturing, 5S
Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations, applicable to Manufacturing
Proficient command of spoken and written English, including the ability to write and compile technical document
Skills / Attributes
Understanding of general chemical principles and their application an advantage
Self-motivated and enthusiastic, with the ability to encourage others
Able to communicate clearly at all levels
Make decisions and take accountability
Demonstrate a proactive approach
Display ambition and attributes suitable to progress within the business
Willing to work variable shifts if required
