UCLA Health RN Coordinator, Pediatrics Gastroenterology - Children's Health Center in Los Angeles, California

Description

The Children's Health Center clinic is seeking to hire an compassionate and problem-solving RN Coordinator to support our Pediatric Gastroenterology patients in our community practices. You will be responsible for maintaining efficient patient flow; clinical assessment; planning, initiating, and following up on medical interventions and diagnostic work-ups; and communicating with patient/family/physicians. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assess patient's regimen of care, provide care plan oversight

  • Oversee the treatment process from initial referral throughout patient follow-up

  • Work closely with internal and external staff to ensure the patient is receiving the appropriate care

  • Develop clinical protocols and procedures

  • Community outreach and education

  • Coordination of medical authorizations and referrals

Salary Range: $59.46 - $88.39 Hourly

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of one year of pediatric clinical experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • Current valid California R.N. license

  • BLS from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association

  • Ability to coordinate patient care, using a team approach

  • Ability to recognize abnormal laboratory and clinical data on a patient and take appropriate nursing action

  • Communication skills necessary for translating medical/technical material to patients and their families in a more simplified fashion so that it can be understood

  • Knowledge of professional nursing standards & procedures and ability to assess clinical situations and triage clinical matters appropriately by level of urgency

  • Demonstration of skill in executing assigned projects in an independent and responsive manner

  • Skill in data collection and analysis sufficient to evaluate and implement proper patient care and promote quality improvement efforts

  • Ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload and/or frequent interruptions

  • Demonstrate an ability to handle sensitive patient information in a confidential manner

  • Skill in establishing, organizing, and maintaining a comprehensive computerized patient database.

  • Basic computer literacy with working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Demonstrated skills in interpersonal interactions and patient care coordination

  • Ability to work in an independent leadership role within a team of healthcare professionals.

Preferred:

  • PALS Certified

  • Bilingual oral and written communication skills (English/Spanish) preferred.

  • California Children's Services (CCS) paneled

  • Familiarity with the CCS and Medi-Cal programs

  • Ability to deal with delivery and/or coordination of all levels of case management for individual patients and their families
