Position Overview:

USC Department of Surgery seeking a highly motivated and skilled Post-Doctoral scholar-Research Associate to join our dynamic team focused on cancer research. The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of the complex interactions within the tumor microenvironment (TME) that influence drug sensitivity and tumor progression. Candidates with expertise in 3D culture and characterization, along with proficiency in immunological techniques and assays, are highly desired. Additionally, knowledge of bioinformatics tools and databases for advanced data analysis is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

Investigate the role of the tumor microenvironment in modulating drug sensitivity and tumor progression. Implement and optimize 3D culture and characterization techniques to mimic the TME. Utilize immunological assays, including flow cytometry, ELISA, and immune cell profiling, to analyze TME components. Employ biochemical techniques such as western blotting, immunoprecipitation, and protein analysis to elucidate signaling pathways within the TME. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate experimental findings with bioinformatics analyses. Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at scientific conferences. This position is a one year fixed term position.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Cell biology, Molecular biology or related fields.

  • Strong background in cancer research with an emphasis on the tumor microenvironment.

  • Experience in 3D culture techniques and TME characterization.

  • Proficiency in immunological techniques, including flow cytometry, ELISA, and immune cell profiling.

  • Expertise in biochemical assays such as western blotting, immunoprecipitation, and protein analysis.

  • Knowledge of bioinformatics tools and databases for data analysis and interpretation.

The annual base salary range for this position is $65,000 - $68,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organization considerations.
