UCLA Health Phlebotomy Tech (weekends) - Semel Institute in Los Angeles, California

Description

This research study is one of 20 Research Project Sites/Hubs intricately linked to the ABCD-USA Consortium Coordinating and Data Analysis Informatics Cores. The main objective of our consortium is to assess over 11,000 youth using standardized methodologies and state-of-the-art technologies. In support of the ABCD-USA consortium goals, UCLA recruited 425 of the 11,000+ 9-10-year-olds and is following up with participants over 10 years.

The Research Phlebotomy Technician will primarily work weekends assisting in data collection and blood draws. Duties will include drawing and processing blood from participants and assisting in other aspects of data collection including MRI scanning, consenting participants, collecting surveys, and administering tests.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, or related discipline.

  • Required: Certified California Phlebotomy Technician

  • Required: Primarily weekend (Friday-Sunday) work schedule.

  • Ability to prioritize and complete in a timely way work on multiple projects with competing requirements

  • Strong computer skills including word processing, e-mail systems, file transfer, and spreadsheets, including the ability to enter data and maintain study records

  • Ability to perform tasks in an efficient, well-organized, and timely manner with a minimum level of supervision and frequent changes in priorities and deadlines.

  • Skill in setting priorities, following through on assigned tasks, and adhering to deadlines.

  • Good working knowledge of UNIX operating system.

  • Ability to work in a team.

  • Skill in working independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to assess situations and problem solve using own judgment.

  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing with staff, researchers, and research subjects at various organizational, cultural and educational levels.
