UCLA Health's Ronald Reagan Hospital is seeking to hire a Per

Diem Food Service Worker to join the Department of Nutrition. Primary duties

include:

  • Using Diet Master List to ensure that every patient listed has a menu to be distributed

  • Educating and assisting patients with Meal Ordering system

  • Supplying trays with proper food/drink items

  • Managing and tracking tray distribution, delivery, and collection

  • Preparing nourishments

  • Assisting with patient's meal tray assembly

  • Assisting with washing dishes/pots

  • Maintaining and cleaning work area

  • Other duties as assigned

Salary range: $19.94/hr - $19.94/hr

Senate Bill 525 was signed into law by Governor Newsom in October 2023. Starting June 1, 2024, SB525 sets a new $23 minimum wage for nonexempt healthcare workers and raises the exempt employee salary threshold to $1,380/week (equivalent to $5,980/month or $71,760/year). 1. As defined under SB525, healthcare workers are defined as employees who are involved in the provision of 'health care services,' which means 'patient care-related services including nursing; caregiving; services provided by medical residents, interns, or fellows; technical and ancillary services; janitorial work; housekeeping; grounds keeping; guard duties; business office clerical work; food services; laundry; medical coding and billing; call center and warehouse work; scheduling; and gift shop work; but only where such services support patient care'.2. Employees (career, contract, student, per diem) in the UCLA Health medical facilities (e.g. Ronald Reagan Medical Center, Santa Monica UCLA Hospital, Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, etc.) meet these criteria.

Qualifications

Prior experience working in food service including tray

assembly

Ability to read, write, and speak in English clearly and

effectively to help customers

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations

Ability to follow standard recipes

Ability to practice safe food handling techniques

Knowledge of general and nutrient modified diets

Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with

co-workers, customers, supervisors, etc. work

Ability to stand, bend, walk, reach for prolonged period of

time in hot or cold areas

Ability to lift, push, or pull 50+ pounds

Ability to work around or use strong cleaning solutions
