Cesar Chavez Foundation Development Accountant in Los Angeles, California

The Cesar Chavez Foundation (CCF) inspires and transforms communities by providing critical social enterprise services that address the needs of working families. CCF’s Housing and Economic Development (HED) Fund builds, owns and operates high-quality, service-enhanced affordable housing for working families, seniors, and those with special needs.

The Development Accountant reports to the Development Analytics Supervisor within HED’s Analytics Department. The Development Accountant will be assigned to various Project Manager(s) and will be responsible for providing support with all aspects related to the work being undertaken by the Project Managers. Primary responsibilities, experience, and qualifications include:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and execute development draws including internal and lender draws via excel.

  • Maintain and monitor project cash flows, ensuring adequate funding for development activities and identifying potential cash flow challenges.

  • Monitor and manage project costs, including construction expenses, acquisition, and all development-related expenditures.

  • Vendor management, reviewing and coding invoices, ensuring accuracy and processing payments in a timely manner; resolve vendor inquiries and discrepancies.

  • Work closely with Financial Management reconciling project ledgers in Yardi ensuring accurate financial reporting.

  • Collaborate with Project Managers on all project closings and conversions including weekly project standing meetings.

  • Collaborate with Property Management during the development transition to property management.

  • Review and approve Construction Payment Application

  • Identify areas of process improvement and provide recommendations.

  • Handle various administrative tasks related to financial recordkeeping, document management and other duties as assigned.

    EXPERIENCE:

    The Development Accountant should have the following minimal skills:

  • Have understanding on how to interpret lender draws and interest statements

  • Strong background in accounting and knowledge of the real estate development industry

  • Experience understanding Settlement Statements

  • Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Suite and Strong Yardi knowledge

  • Excellent time management and organization skills

  • Analytical and effective oral and written communication skills

    EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

  • 2+ years of pre-requisite development accounting experience

    SALARY RANGE:

    $70,000-$78,900 per year DOE
