POSITION OVERVIEW

DEFTEC Corporation is seeking an Acquisition Specialist The successful candidate shall be able to provide Program Acquisition Support (PAS) and Information Management support for developing, facilitating, updating and/or coordinating briefings, tasks, reports, media queries, public releases, and special projects.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process data calls, document reviews, acquisition reporting, travel requests, media requests, and other mandatory reporting

  • Review program documents for consistency with applicable military, federal, state, local, contractual, commercial, or international statutes, regulations, policies, publications, directives, instructions, executive orders, codes, requirements or standards and report findings

  • Receive, document, generate, distribute, track and close tasks and to open, read, understand, and properly distribute tasks to program participants

  • Coordinate with program participants and stakeholders and to track the status and report metrics for all tasks, action items, suspense, and responses at a minimum from receipt through closure with the originator

  • Schedule and distribute recurring tasks and program-related materials, review and evaluate tracking and tasking processes, track suspense, monitor status, and provide action item coordination, review accuracy, ensure timeliness, recommend changes, and provide quality control of presentations, briefings, and media relations

  • Prepare official memoranda, staff summary sheets, program office briefings, and other similar action officer duties

  • Review responses to taskers ensuring that they are technically and programmatically accurate with sufficient detail to precisely complete the tasks and efficiently staff responses for leadership approval, distribution and closure

  • Assess, develop, evaluate, and consolidate responses for answering technical and programmatic inquiries and shall be able to ensure responses are approved by the appropriate approving authority and released to the originator for closure

  • Ensure consistency of interpretation is maintained with special research assignments and shall be able to coordinate research and analysis projects with leadership, partners and stakeholders

  • Provide subject matter expertise with the development of strategic long-range planning and shall be able to coordinate actions, clarify responsibilities, create schedules, and task completions

  • Provide advice and guidance for improvements and anticipate areas of concern to be managed by leadership

  • Support a wide range of detailed studies, compilation and analysis of facts, development of plans, and extensive coordination with other staff activities for leadership approval

  • Maintain continuity of key acquisition documents supporting policy, program milestones, and strategy decisions

  • Ensure the program authority understands the necessary background information to support participation in ceremonies and formal public appearances

  • Prepare note cards and staff papers for Government review prior to events and provide additional research, as required

  • Review, compile, and coordinate documentation for milestone or other major reviews by senior acquisition officials for the program authority

  • Research, draft, and edit articles, speeches, and testimony on the sponsoring organization, missions, operations, and initiatives

  • Analyze and recommend pertinent information, the most logical and effective use of the information, and the overall length and tone of the message based upon the objectives of the communication event and the audience

  • Coordinate with the leadership to ensure consistency of messages for internal and external audiences

  • Determine the overall organization of presentations and edit the information for clarity and accuracy and shall be able to conduct additional research and provide recommendations on submissions from other activities to organize, balance, and apply a consistent sense of style, grammar, and flow to the finished product

  • Provide coordination for PEO organizations visits, coordinate between visitors and the program organizations, review all visit requests, distribute requests, and and shall be able establish visit timelines

  • Ensure all documents required to facilitate the visit are properly completed and staffed in a timely manner

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Required Qualifications:

  • B.A. or B.A. in Systems Engineering or a related STEM field, or in lieu of a degree at least five years of relevant experience

  • At least eight years of relevant system acquisition experience

  • Proven performance in U.S. military service acquisitions

  • Possess an Active Secret security clearance

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite applications

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least an earned B.A. or B.S. degree in Systems Engineering or a related STEM field

  • Specific system acquisition experience in U.S. military space programs
