Los Alamos National Laboratory Quality Assurance Analyst 2/3 in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

Production Agency Quality ensures that all products in the Weapons Production Directorate meet or exceed all quality requirements.

Production Quality Assurance (PAQ-2) is responsible for Weapons Supply Chain Quality, Assessments, Supplier Management, Issues Management, Continuous Improvement, Metrics, Requirements Management and Software Quality Assurance. We are looking for applicants with experience in assessments and supplier evaluations. Based upon the applicant's experience, they will be screened by management and placed on the appropriate team.

Quality Assurance Analyst 2 ($76,900-$122,200)

Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assessments: Support audits and assessments of weapons production programs to ensure compliance with contractual quality requirements.

  • Supplier Evaluations: Serve as a certified auditor and assist lead auditor of weapons suppliers.

Quality Assurance Analyst 3 ($92,300-$151,000)

Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assessments: Lead and support audits and assessments of weapons production programs to ensure compliance with contractual quality requirements.

  • Supplier Evaluations: Evaluate suppliers on an annual and/or triennial basis as well as lead and support assessments and audits of weapons related suppliers. Plan, conduct, and report the supplier audit including the development of audit/assessment checklists and reports.

What You Need

Minimum Requirements

Quality Assurance Analyst 2:

Quality Assurance Requirements: Some working knowledge and experience of quality assurance requirements, policies, and procedures such as NAP 401.1 and DOE O 414.1D flow down of requirements to customers, vendors and subcontractors.

Self-directed and Teamwork: Proven success working independently and in a team environment with some supervision.

Customer Service: Experience utilizing strong written and verbal communication skills.

Decision Making: Some experience supporting and/or making effective decisions and understanding risks related to technical issues.

Travel: Ability to travel approximately 25% to 50% of the time (Supplier Evaluations).

In addition to the job requirements of a Quality Assurance Analyst 2, Quality Assurance Analyst 3 will need:

Quality Assurance Requirements: Advanced knowledge and experience of quality assurance requirements, policies, and procedures such as NAP 401.1 and DOE O 414.1D flow down of requirements to customers, vendors and subcontractors.

Self-directed and Teamwork: Advanced ability to work independently in determining the appropriate course of action in a dynamic atmosphere of changing priorities. Advanced-level and proven record of success leading cross-organizational teams.

Customer Service: Demonstrated commitment to quality and customer focus.

Decision Making: Advanced-level and proven ability to direct a team and assure accomplishment of team objectives.

Education/Experience for Quality Assurance Analyst 2: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Education/Experience For Quality Assurance Analyst 3: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.

Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 (https://www.directives.doe.gov/directives-documents/400-series/0472.2-BOrder-chg1-pgchg) for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
