Los Alamos National Laboratory Engineer Internship in Los Alamos, New Mexico

The Plutonium Facilities Engineering (PFE) Division of Los Alamos National Laboratory develops, maintains, and applies a diverse set of engineering capabilities to provide innovative engineering solutions that enable the Laboratory's scientific and national security mission. Successful candidates will be performing work in a Nuclear Facility.
This internship provides mentoring, hands-on technical experience, and professional development opportunities through a formalized work plan complementing the student's engineering education. Come join our team!
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor's degree program in any engineering discipline. Engineering degree in greatest demand include Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, and Fire Protection Engineering.
Enrolled in and successfully complete a minimum of 12 undergraduate credit hours per semester (or equivalent of full-time enrollment).
Have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale. Note: Students must provide the program coordinator with current, official transcripts annually to remain eligible. See the Annual Transcript & Salary Review Process section for additional information.
Pass a new employment drug test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

The mission of the Plutonium Facilities Engineering Team is to provide systems engineering support to operations and maintenance activities to the TA-55 Facility Operations Director (FOD) and to provide design and project engineering services in support of Facility Operations and the Plutonium Facility enduring mission.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
