Opportunity:

VSO is seeking a highly skilled and experienced NOC Infrastructure Specialist to join our dynamic team in Lorton, Virginia. As a NOC Infrastructure Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and secure operation of our network infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide various levels of support and troubleshooting for network infrastructure issues, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.

  • Conduct regular monitoring and analysis of network performance, identify potential bottlenecks, and take proactive measures to maintain optimal network health.

  • Coordinate with carriers and external vendors to ensure seamless connectivity, manage network capacity, and troubleshoot connectivity issues.

  • Implement and maintain robust security measures within the NOC environment, including access control, intrusion detection systems, and data encryption.

  • Manage and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and inventory records.

  • Generate comprehensive reports on equipment and security metrics, network health status, and incident resolution.

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to provide solutions for infrastructure improvements, scalability, and capacity planning.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of network operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Strong knowledge of NOC designs, configurations, deployment, operations, data storage, and data management.

  • Proven experience in 24/7 network health monitoring and troubleshooting in a complex network environment.

  • Excellent understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF).

  • Familiarity with security best practices, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and network segmentation.

  • Experience in managing and coordinating with carriers and external vendors.

  • Proficiency in network monitoring tools, such as SolarWinds, Nagios, or PRTG.

  • Familiarity with Azure Networking and cloud networking concepts.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to think quickly and make sound decisions under pressure.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or similar industry recognized certifications will be an advantage.

Requirements

  • Must be within driving distance of Lorton VA OR willing to relocate there (Relocation Assistance Package Available)

  • Must be willing to work onsite (This role may include the need to work outside of core hours on high priority investigations and may also include on-call responsibilities)

  • Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance or above

  • Must possess an active DOD 8570 IAT Level 1 or greater

$145,000.00 - $190,000.00
