Mech Skilled Electrician - Mercy Lorain Hospital

THIS IS A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT POSITION

General Summary

Under the supervision of a lead Electrician repairs and maintains the hospital structure, electrical systems, machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operational manuals, blueprints and manufacturers specifications. Uses hand and power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments. Basic electronic skills to perform repairs on nurse call, fire alarm systems and building automation control

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must have critical thinking, problem solving skills, understand blue prints and diagrams at a level normally acquired through completion of a two year electrical apprenticeship or two years of technical training beyond high school in an electrical trade school, preferred. Ability to repair electrical circuits, moto control systems, VFD drives, and hospital equipment as necessary. Analytical skills necessary in order to make calculations for installation and repair of equipment.

Recognize NFPA 70 and OSHA safety regulations.

Working Conditions

Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when observing equipment, disassembling devices, making repairs and maintaining logs.

Occasional exposure to hazards including cuts, burns and the like when operating repair equipment. (up to 30% of work time)

Substantial physical effort exerted 20 to 50% of time.

Ability to walk, stand and bend more than 80% of work time.

Ability to lift 80 pounds at any given time.

Reporting Relationships

Reports to Director of Maintenance / Plant Operations.
