This position conducts and participates in outreach events for recruitment and veteran benefits awareness, and other activities related to the needs of veterans and eligible dependent students. 

The Navigator works regularly and collaboratively with Student Services, particularly Disability and Access Services, Financial Aid, Advising, Testing & One-Stop, Student Programs, Workforce and Career Services, and Registration. The Navigator is an active participant of LCC's Student Services Council, focused on collaboration and coordination of holistic student support across a student's educational journey. Serving as a liaison for the Veterans Center, the Navigator must build and maintain highly collaborative relationships with staff, faculty and community organizations to ensure excellent service and support to students. The Navigator supervises work study and student help positions.

The Navigator provides culturally responsive support and engagement to active military, veteran, and eligible dependent students to improve access and successful educational outcomes.

The Veteran Resource Center Navigator is a 10-month, 40 hour per week position (the Navigator works September 1 through June 30 & is off majority of July & August each year). The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; however, some evening and weekend work is required. Please note that the posted salary range is reflective of the 12-month salary amount. *Because this is a 10-month position, scheduled leave without pay will be deducted from the salary making the 10-month salary range closer to $49,933 - $52,592 (dependent amount the # of pay days in the various pay periods in July & August). *If the successful hire is proficient in Spanish, there is an additional 5% for bilingual skills on top of the base salary. This position is exempt but eligible for overtime under FLSA and reports to the Director of Disability & Access Services.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities

 

Act as the liaison and provide superior customer service for active military, veteran, and eligible dependent students to help facilitate their transition to the college, including participating in new student orientations and welcome sessions as needed. Support veterans in completing materials needed by the School Certifying Official (SCO).

Provide follow up and ongoing support to help students resolve financial, personal, and educational needs related to their veteran status.
