PeaceHealth is seeking a Scribe - ENT Otolaryngology for a Part Time, 0.60 FTE, Day position.

The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $16.48 – $21.13. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

Responsible for performing all clerical and information technology functions for the physician during patient visits in the clinic. This includes primary responsibility of the operation of the electronic health record and electronic dictation system. Required to anticipate physician needs to facilitate the flow of clinic. Must be discreet, tactful, and modest in performance of duties so as not to distract medical staff from patient care.

Details of the Position

  • Accompanies physician/provider during the patient examination in order to transcribe in the medical record (EMR) the nature of the patient visit. This includes accurately and thoroughly documenting medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician.

  • Collect, organize and catalog data for physician quality reporting system and other quality improvement efforts and format for submission. Assist in developing and maintaining systems to track patient follow up and compliance.

  • Perform dictation/faxing/phone calls and other related clerical tasks.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • College Coursework: Pre-med college courses. (Preferred)

  • College Coursework: Anatomy and/or medical terminology class.(Preferred)

  • Minimum of 1 year Healthcare experience in a hospital or clinical environment. (Preferred)

  • Certified Medical Scribe. (Preferred)

Skills

  • Knowledge of medical terminology. (Required)

  • Recognition of the physical exam process and ability to record exams in detail. (Required)

  • Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications. (Required)

  • Legible handwriting and ability to accurately record information. (Required)

  • Organizational skills with focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow. (Required)

  • Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families. (Required)

  • Ability to multi-task. (Required)

Working Conditions

  • Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.

  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

  • Sedentary work.

  • Predominantly operates in an office environment.

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
