The Food Service Work reports to the Early Learning Center Program Director.     This position is categorized as a Food Service Worker Lead under State of Washington Class Specification. This position is a non-permanent classified position working no more than 19 hours per week. Examples of Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Serves in food preparation, delivering, dishwashing and sanitization functions for Early Learning Center program
  • Prepares and cooks USDA meals and snacks
  • Measures, prepares, and serves meals to meet special diet requirements
  • Performs cleaning duties; washes dishes and utensils; walls and counters in kitchen, wipes down shelves, microwave and other storage areas.
  • Operates standard kitchen appliances and equipment such as crock pots, toaster, dishwasher, etc.
  • Receives food from vendors
  • Rotates and inventories food & supplies weekly
  • Carefully monitors meals for allergens and provides substitutions for children with allergies and intolerances
  • Use inventory systems to assist with food purchases
  • Perform other related duties as required

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Possession of or eligible for a food handler permit 
  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of kitchen 
  • Experience in the food industry
  • Knowledge of personal hygiene, sanitation, and kitchen safety precautions
  • Ability to work independently and with a team

  • Washington State Patrol Background Check
  • Department of Child, Youth and Family Services Portable Background Check
  • TB test
  • Food Handler's Card
  • MMR documentation

Required by Program Standards

  • First Aid/CPR Card, Blood borne Pathogens Training, Child Abuse and Neglect training, Code of Ethics, Confidentiality Statement, Disaster Preparedness training, LCC Canvas trainings, Standards of Conduct, Employee Assistance Program Training. MERIT Registration
