Overview

Take responsibility for sustainability rating, client communication, report preparation, productivity tracking, issue resolution, code education, and time-sensitive inspection on commercial and multi-family energy modeling projects.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Direction

  • Perform work under very limited supervision requiring the need to exercise independent judgement and discretion on a regular or frequent basis.

  • Position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities but will serve as a lead/resource among team of colleagues in equivalent roles to share technical proficiency, guidance, and mentorship. May occasionally assist in delegation of assignments or provide feedback to managers.

At the Operational and Company Level

  • Assist with the marketing of the firm-s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships.

  • Liaise with clients as appropriate to discuss methods, results and recommendations; Maintain an open dialogue with clients as to project performance ensure expectations are met and concerns are addressed to win repeat business.

Do the Work

  • Provide clear and well-written memorandums, and reports to various clients (building owners, architects, contractors, engineers) regarding project-specific performance and results.

  • Supply urgent inspection results to clients to minimize re-inspections and avoid missing construction stage site visits and testing.

  • Educate builders and contractors on code requirements and timing of site visits.

  • Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure quality and accurate technical content of project-related documents.

  • Prepare analyses, calculations, and reports to support certification programs such as Energy Star, Enterprise Green Communities, National Green Building Standards.

  • Travel to in-state and out-of-state projects as required. Minimal out-of-state travel required.

  • Ensure consistent timing of productivity goals.

  • Apply diversified knowledge of energy-efficiency/sustainability principles and practices and make independent decisions that meet client expectations appropriate to project scope and within established project fee.

  • Effectively communicate with project team and clients through regular project status updates; resolve and/or escalate issues promptly and handles difficult/sensitive information tactfully.

  • Ensure that aspects of assigned project are completed in a timely and appropriate manner.

  • Protect the firm's profitability and reputation by self-checking work before review.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction or engineering related discipline from accredited college or university.

  • Experience as a RESNET Energy Rater or RFI preferred.

  • Working knowledge of ENERGY STAR, Enterprise Green Communities, National Green Building Standards certification rating systems preferred.

  • Experience in mechanical engineering.

  • Experience as a general contractor of house/buildings.

  • Experience as an HVAC, insulation, or framing contractor or architect.

  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art energy efficiency technologies/applications preferred.

  • Experience with supporting software (Microsoft Office Suite, ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, REMrate or Ekotrope).

Physical Demands and Working Environment

  • Primarily indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.

  • Mobility around an office environment.

  • Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

  • Partly outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.

  • Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.

  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.

  • Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.

  • Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
