Position Summary

Caribou Thunder is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join our team. Your expertise will be crucial in performing system administration tasks within the scope of the contract, supporting a U.S. Space Force Missile defense program.

Complete Description

As a Database Administrator III, you will play a vital role in maintaining and administering multi-user computer systems, virtual computer systems, and COTS software products.

  • Your responsibilities will include monitoring and addressing system performance issues, patching system, and operating system software, maintaining software licenses, and assisting with account management and system vulnerability management.

  • Additionally, you will collaborate with the Information Assurance (IA) team to provide access to system logs, monitor user accounts, and promptly respond to security issues or incidents.

  • Furthermore, you will implement and maintain the smooth operation and physical design of databases, ensuring backup recovery capabilities, and making recommendations for enhancements and improvements.

  • Your expertise will contribute to maintaining security and integrity controls and formulating policies, procedures, and standards related to database management.

  • Patch system and operating system software to maintain up-to-date and secure environments.

  • Manage software licenses to ensure compliance and proper usage.

  • Assist the Information Assurance team with account management and system vulnerability management.

  • Implement and maintain smooth operation and physical design of databases.

  • Maintain security and integrity controls within databases.

  • Formulate policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management.

    Minimum Requirements

  • Database administration experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and/or MongoDB (PostgreSQL preferred).

  • Experience with Red Hat Linux environments.

  • Experience working with Agile Methodologies.

  • Scripting experience (Python, Ruby, PowerShell, etc.).

  • Familiarity with IBM Advanced Interactive eXecutive (AIX) Unix Operating Systems.

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

  • Experience working in DevOps/DevSecOps environments.

    Preferred Requirements

  • Understanding of Virtualization using VMWare.

  • Solid understanding of PostgreSQL.
