NJ Employer Nursery Worker in Long Valley, New Jersey

Anticipated period of employment: 05/05/2024 to 12/14/2024.

This job requires three months of prior experience working in a nursery handling both manual and machine tasks associated with production of nursery plants and harvest activities.

Workers must be able to perform manual as well as mechanized activities with accuracy and efficiency. Plants, cultivates, maintains, transplants, harvest trees, shrubs, and bedding plants in seasonal holding houses and fields. Pots seeding, a prune, transplants, spaces, irrigates, and culls plants to ensure availability of marketable products. Packs, labels, pulls, and stores plants according to variety. May uncover and/ or recover winter storage houses. Feels plants' leaves and notes their coloring to detect the presence of insects or disease. Inspects plants and bud ties to assess quality. Weeds, sprays, fertilizes, waters, mows, loads/unloads truck and wagons. Digs, cuts, and transplants seedlings, cuttings, trees, and shrubs. Moves containerized shrubs, plants, and trees using wheelbarrows or tractors. Haul and spread topsoil, fertilizer, peat moss and other materials to condition soil, using wheelbarrows or carts and shovels. Maintains and repairs irrigation and climate control system for fields and seasonal holding houses. See ETA 790 for a complete job description.
