Job Position: Medical AssistantPay Rate: $27 Per HourLocation: 462 1st Ave., New York, NY 10016Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PMJob Summary:The Medical Assistant is an essential member of the nursing team, providing support services in patient care. This role involves a combination of clinical and clerical duties to ensure efficient operation of the medical unit.Performance Criteria:Clinical Duties:Assist physicians and nurses with patient care activities and procedures.Determine when to seek a nurse for interpretation of medical/nursing documentation (e.g., schedules, inventory, prescriptions).Maintain confidentiality of medical information, sharing only with designated staff.Clerical Duties:Draft documentation and maintain office filing systems.Perform data entry and calculations related to invoices, billing, expenses, and inventory.Duplicate and collate triage forms and other medical documents.Store and manage health-related documents and other confidential materials.File medical and mental health records.Transmit triage forms to placement locations.Type weekly reports, memos, and orientation materials.Inventory Management:Maintain and manage medical supplies and equipment.Follow-up on requests for medical supplies/equipment and repairs.Manage office supplies, equipment, and printed forms.Emergency Response:Respond to administrative emergencies and be available for additional administrative tasks as needed.Appearance:Represent the company well, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, neatness, and professionalism.Keep nails clean and short; do not wear artificial nails.Ensure the uniform is fresh and laundered.Avoid using cell phones when with a patient.Work Habits:Be punctual and dependable, with low absenteeism.Report any absence promptly to the office, not the client facility.Sign in and out at the designated area at the start and end of each shift.Report any job-related issues to the office for intervention or reassignment.Responsibilities:Adhere to standard precautions, aseptic technique, and infection control guidelines.Accept and implement suggestions to improve performance.Respect the opinions of others and follow through on assigned responsibilities.Maintain confidentiality of patient assessments and records.Complete annual continuing education/competency requirements.Comply with standards for availability, attendance, and punctuality.Demonstrate professionalism through appearance, performance, and communication.Qualifications:Current Medical Assistant certificate from an approved school.Six months of recent healthcare experience preferred.Ability to meet health standards of employment.Current CPR and heart saver certifications if required by the contract.Successful completion of orientation and competencies.No disqualifying findings on the criminal background check.Physical Requirements:Maintain physical capabilities to perform all work-related duties.Ability to tolerate varied levels of stress.Working Conditions:Work in a clinical environment with exposure to patient care activities.Handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
