Amazon Principal Product Manager, XB Air in Long Beach, California

Description

The Global Logistics team is seeking an experienced leader to drive the development of our cross-border air product strategy. This Principal Product Manager is responsible to design inbound and outbound air supply chain, including build-out of the air network, carrier and node capacity solutions, technical and operational capabilities to delight customers. This individual will own the product design, roadmap and priorities, business components such as customer segmentation, pricing/transfer pricing and margin management, and developing innovative solutions with strategic partners.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and written skills, with the ability to present products to senior leaders and influence investment decisions towards achieving our goals. The candidate will work with internal client groups, third party partners and the technology organization to develop best-in-class global airfreight, customs and last-mile logistics solutions. Amazon is a data-driven company, the successful candidate will be comfortable creating metrics, deep diving data to understand current state, and discerning business impact from customer requirement changes, new capabilities/products and market dynamics.

Key job responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

  • Set the vision and investment priorities towards building a multi-year roadmap to delight cross-border air customers.

  • Work closely with partner teams to align deliverables such as supply chain disaggregation and technical roadmaps

  • Nurture and foster strategic relationships with our partners globally to develop and design innovative solutions.

  • Work with internal/external stakeholders with diverse requirements (including real and perceived partner and/or supplier needs), and distilling those into a compelling product and service set

  • Clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, desired outcomes, and onboarding progress to cross-functional project teams

  • Work with various internal stakeholders who will manage and operate products to document their requirements and work with the technology organization for implementation – including Sourcing, Customer Service, Transportation Operations, Finance, Accounting, as well as others.

  • Create clear requirements for Procurement and Carrier Management partners to understand product requirements and ensure BIC carrier performance.

  • Collect and manage key data to demonstrate business value/Return on Investment (ROI) directly attributable to proposed supply chain improvement.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience with end to end product delivery

  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 10+ years Airline, Global Transportation, Logistics, or Supply Chain industry experience

  • 8+ years of large product/project development experience

  • 5+ years performing cost/benefit analysis, analyzing risk/reward tradeoffs, and making decisions in a highly-ambiguous and ever-changing environment

  • Working knowledge and familiarity with global standards for cross border supply chain for B2B and B2C

  • Experience with cross-subject area/matrix teams in an ambiguous environment with pressing near-term goals

  • Strong data analysis skills, ability to produce, interpret and draw conclusions from data, including proficiency in SQL and Microsoft Excel

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with history of senior leader interaction

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA/MS supply chain-related discipline preferred

  • Expertise in aircraft economics and international air cargo market

  • Experience in launching large-scale projects within operations, supply or technology fields

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
