Boeing Global Services – Commercial Modifications and Freighter Conversions Team is looking for a motivated Mid-Level Systems Engineer to join the Safety, Certification, and Performance (SC&P) team in Long Beach, CA . This is a high visibility and developmental role with leadership and technical assignments that directly support the Modifications and Conversions programs in the areas of airplane safety, certification, and special projects.

Position Responsibilities:

  • This position requires a quick learner who can rapidly understand complex technical concepts across multiple engineering disciplines, a problem solver who can analyze and organize complex technical problems into actionable execution plans, and a leader who can take initiative, build consensus, deliver results, and demonstrate beginning to end accountability

  • Responsible for developing integrated plans, leading project teams, and risk management

  • Safety:

  • Lead the implementation of the Safety Management System in Commercial Modifications and Conversions, including leading Safety Risk Meetings with a senior leaders and executives, managing safety risk escalation, and interfacing with airplane program safety boards and engineers

  • Certification:

  • Lead the execution of Certification Initiatives, including project prioritization, integration, and on-time & quality execution

  • Drive the execution of airworthiness non-compliance and disclosure related activity

  • Act as a delegate for the Safety, Certification & Performance (SC&P) Leader as required

  • Exhibit excellent technical, written and verbal communication skills

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Long Beach, CA.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5+ years of engineering experience

  • 2+ years of engineering experience in the Aerospace Industry

  • Experience with airplane certification and working with FAA and EASA regulations

  • Experience leading through influence and partnering with cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 2+ years of experience in Project Engineering or Project Management

  • Project Management Certification (i.e. PMP)

  • Experience leading and performing Root Cause Analysis

  • 3+ years of engineering experience in at least one of the following disciplines: Airframe, Flight Sciences, Flight Test, Interiors, Propulsion, Electrical, or Systems

  • Communication skills: Ability to translate complex issues into cohesive, actionable components and communicate at an executive level.

  • Integration skills: Ability to build consensus, negotiate, and empower teams to deliver results where process definition may not yet exist or is unclear.

  • Extras:

  • Experience writing Certification Plans

  • Experience working with Regulatory Administration (RA)

  • Experience working with Safety and Airworthiness (SAW)

  • Experience with system safety and reliability analyses on aircraft systems

  • Experience with the Continued Operation Safety Process (COSP)

  • Experience with Part 25 Airworthiness Notifications of Noncompliance

Typical Education/ Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary Pay Range: $104,550- $141,450
