Dignity Health Emergency Management Assistant in Long Beach, California

Overview

Responsibilities

This position will assist the Director of DRC in all emergency management duties. Will interface with hospital staff & management as well as local EMS agencies.

  • Assist with coordination and attendance all of the monthly mandatory meetings at LA County EMS agency assist with Business Continuity LA County meetings Assist with writing of the annual Hazard Vulnerability Analysis as well as the annual updates to the Emergency Management Plan. Attend the monthly Environment of Care Committee meetings and do safety rounds for EOC committee in the hospital.

  • Assist with decontamination training as well as safety in-services for emergency management program.

  • Assist with Hospital Orientation biweekly in-servicing to new employees new grad programs and CME department for new interns and residents.

  • Assist with participation in the annual Medical and Health Disaster Exercise and attend the EMS Agency preconference and post conference meetings in Sante Fe Springs.

  • Assist with coordination of large scale drills with Long Beach Fire and Police to include Triannual Airport Drill Active Shooter Drills and Mass Casualty drills.

  • Assist with education and training of CSULB Long Beach City college emergency management programs and assist with teaching of local Medical Reserve Corps groups and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT ) trainings.

  • Attend the monthly DRC umbrella meetings taking minutes assist with preparation for American College of Surgeon The Joint Commission and CMS Emergency Management surveys.

  • Assist with inventory of all the grant funded equipment purchased since 2003 maintain the truck and trailers and emergency management gear for all tents shelters surge capacity equipment DRC parking garage equipment HAZMAT equipment assist with coordination of the regional decontamination drill and mass casualty drills off site. Assist with inventory of pharmaceuticals and monthly checks on Purified Air Powered Respirators.

  • Report in to the medical center during real time events and assist with setting up the Hospital Emergency Operations Command Center fill out Incident Command forms and After Action reports. Attend bimonthly conference calls with Dignity Health Emergency Management teams and attend bi annual meetings at Glendale Headquarters for Dignity Health in Emergency Management

Qualifications

  • Computer skills to include Word/Excel/PowerPoint

  • Familiarity with Hospital Incident Command Systems Mass Casualty Triage ICS 100 200 700 and 800 Familiarity with HAZMAT gear and HAZWOPER standards of Emergency Management

  • Bachelors degree in Health Care Administration or Emergency Management preferred

  • Must be able to travel to meetings from Catalina Island to Downey CA as well as Downtown Los Angeles and Santa Fe Springs Glendale

  • Minimum 1 shift per pay period, but can be more depending on department needs.

Pay Range

$29.03 - $42.10 /hour
