Additional Information: This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Highgate Holdings. The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc. The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment. If you accept a position at this hotel, you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International, Inc.

JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the entire hotel, all administrative, financial and operating aspects of the Housekeeping and affiliated departments. This position has approximately 80 direct reports some of who are part of a collective bargaining agreement.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Supervise and train all housekeeping staff in Customer Service, Empowerment, Housekeeping Standards and Procedures

  • Create, approve, and post all housekeeping staff schedules according to Highgate Hotels standards and in accordance with the CBA.

  • Create and adhere to annual budget for department.

  • Develop financial forecasts and actively participate in monthly profit/loss review meetings.

  • Develop and implement plans for preventive deep cleaning in association with the front office and engineering teams.

  • Have a deep understanding of cleaning protocols, chemical usage, and carpet and marble care.

  • Ensure the hotel is in compliance with all local, state and federal laws.

  • Assist as necessary with special projects and renovations.

  • Actively participate in and maintain records of energy conservation programs.

  • Review all guest and meeting planner comment cards to ensure problems are identified and corrected in a timely manner.

  • Ensure compliance with the Americans Disabilities Act (ADA).

  • Administer all vendor contracts controlled by the housekeeping department.

  • Support and participate in all Highgate Hotel programs.

  • Participate in the Highgate Hotel Safety Committee.

  • Involvement in the Lobby Ambassador coverage.

  • At least 5 years of progressive housekeeping management experience in a hotel or a related field; or a 4-year college degree and at least 1 year of related management experience; or a 2-year college degree and 3 or more years of related management experience.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Long hours sometimes required.

  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.

  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.

  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.

  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.

  • Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required.

  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.

  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing nametags.

  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.

  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.

  • Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.

  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Description of Pay and Benefits, if any

  • Salaried position $90,000 – $100,000 annually based on experience.
