Key job responsibilities

The Prime Video Mobile organization is seeking an engineering leader that will help in building an iOS product that will delight customers worldwide. You will lead efforts to redesign the iOS app to unblock developers to deliver new features to customers faster. You will mentor developers to model your high bar for quality, telemetry, and operational excellence. You proactively identify and implement improvements to the customer experience. Your vision will enable customers to have responsive, delightful and intuitive experiences, whenever the interact with Prime Video.

A day in the life

As a leader of mobile applications in Prime Video, you will be deeply engaged in building and maintaining the best experience for our customers. This includes working closely with the product to drive how we will evolve the app in key areas such as navigation, offer clarity, and content selection for mobile scenarios. You will work with development teams across Prime Video to influence engineering best practices. There’s always an opportunity to walk though implementation details with developers at the whiteboard or in a code review. And, for fun, you will dive deep into customer feedback and the operational metrics to solve just one more problem for customers.

About the team

The Prime Video iOS team owns the Prime Video application for iPhone and iPad. We regularly deliver a continually evolving and delightful experience to our continually expanding user base. The team is fully based in London, and comprises a mix of newer and more experienced members. We own a mature product that serves millions of customers, and for many is the primary way that interact with Prime Video.

As much as working hard, you will also have fun as part of the iOS team, welcomed by regular team outings and activities like board games, video game tournaments, and ongoing training opportunities. Working in a hybrid on-site/remote fashion, we're keen to ensure we remain interactive and regularly organize team events, to help maintain the team atmosphere we're so proud of fostering.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

  • Experience in professional, non-internship software development

  • Experience in development in the last 3 years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

  • Experience developing and maintaining mobile applications for iOS or Android.
