Role Description:

Splunk is currently seeking a highly motivated, results-oriented individual to join our presales team as a Senior Solution Engineer (Security) in UK.

This is an opportunity to work at a company that is changing the way information supports business decisions.

As a Splunk Senior Solution Engineer , you’ll be the deep-dive technical sales resource for the UK Sales team supporting our clients across the region. This role has a specific focus on Security where you’ll be the subject matter expert for our team both in terms of the technical aspects of our products and how they fit within a modern security team.

Solution Engineers must be comfortable building rapport with technical champions and coaches augmenting the account team and serving as a trusted advisor within the accounts that they touch. Developing and owning technical proof activities to accelerate expansion opportunities, as well as drive product adoption.

All Splunk SEs answer technical questions from customers regarding Splunk technology, features, solutions, applications as well as articulate Splunk technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.

Responsibilities:

  • Adept at designing solutions and scoping proof events using Splunk products and Services that align with customer’s desired business outcomes and demonstrate quantifiable, measurable value

  • Ability to demonstrate Splunk products and services to customers on site, remotely via webinar sessions, and at field events such as conferences and trade shows.

  • You should have experience with discovering operational pains and determining value with customers.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle not only with our customer's technical staff, but also internally.

  • Provide technical expertise in the security arena and be the go-to person for the wider SA team

  • Self-motivated with a proven track record in technical software sales and knowledge of technology.

  • Strong presentation skills and be able to communicate clearly and professionally to emails, RFPs, and when submitting reports.

  • Work closely with the presales team and presales management to develop and continually improve working practices, best practices, presales processes.

Requirements:

  • A proven track record with Splunk (or competitive) Security products

  • Security domain experience and expertise.

Technical Knowledge and Experience: I know that, or I have worked with that!

  • Domain knowledge and experience in any of the following areas:

  • Big Data / Security & Fraud (focus domain knowledge)

  • IT Operations

  • Security & Fraud

  • Application Delivery

  • Business Analytics

  • IoT & Industrial Data

  • Log Management

  • Experience working with complex application environments, with the ability to understand relevant sources of machine data, such as performance logs, application logs, audit logs, security data sources, network centric data, etc.

  • Experience and hands-on skills with operating systems like UNIX, Linux or Windows.

  • Experience and hands-on skills with scripting languages such as Python and Perl, as well as with regular expression (RegEx) pattern matching would be an advantage

  • Prior experience with search engine technologies and query languages would be an advantage.

Education and Additional Skills: Got it!

  • A University degree or equivalent experience (preferably in computer science, software engineering or a similar field).

  • Proactive and able to manage activities in a self-sufficient manner.

  • Strong communication skills, including fluent verbal and written English language skills.

  • Strong knowledge of the sales process.

OTE Range

For sales roles starting salaries are expressed as On Target Earnings or OTE (OTE = base + on-target incentives in the form of sales commission plans).

United Kingdom

On Target Earnings: GBP 104,000.00 - 143,000.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the On Target Earnings (OTE) range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the OTE will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to OTE, this role may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
