The role:

There is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Natural Capital Team and be part of our globally leading natural capital capability. The role can be based in any of our UK offices including - London, Reading, Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Glasgow. The natural capital discipline is rapidly evolving, and our nature-based services are in high demand from a range of clients and sectors. At Jacobs we help support our clients to understand what natural assets they influence, the benefits and value they can create alongside the impact of their decisions throughout the asset management lifecycle.

To meet these business needs and future aspirations, we are looking for an enthusiastic and committed candidate to support the leadership and continued growth of our team who specialises in natural capital approaches. The role sits within our Environmental Services resource group of the Water and Environment business.

As a Senior Associate Director you will help clients understand and optimise their relationship with the natural environment as an integral component to ensuring environmental protection, enhancement, and contribution to wider strategic objectives across the climate, biodiversity and social inequity crises.

Experience in leading the development and delivery of natural capital assessments is essential as there will be the expectation of engaging clients to develop, secure, and lead work to a high standard. The role would provide technical oversight and direction for project team members and would work closely with global experts across the sustainability and environmental disciplines on a wide variety of projects.

At times, there may be the need utilise your wider passion and skillset for sustainability, and we are interested to hear from candidates who have experience in environmental net gain, biodiversity net gain, social value and carbon management.

Stakeholder engagement is an important element of our natural capital work, and we are looking for a candidate who is confident in delivering workshops (virtual and face-to-face) with clients and wider stakeholders. The candidate will proactively remain up to date and lead new developments across the discipline and we will support a candidate in growing their profile internally and externally, providing mentoring opportunities to fully support development.

Here’s what you’ll need :

· Experience of successful delivery of a similar role

· Experience of business development for nature based solutions

· Experience of working with relevant guidance i.e. Defra’s Enabling a Natural Capital Approach

· Understanding of environmental net gain, environmental valuation methods, biodiversity net gain, social value, and carbon management

· Strong data analysis skills and attention to detail and an understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

· Excellent skills and experience in report writing, presentations and workshop delivery

· A good degree qualification in a relevant environmental/natural science or environmental economics

· Excellent communication and teamwork skills

· A focus and desire to work safely

· Self-starter and strong initiative

Ideally you’ll also have:

· Chartered status/working towards chartered status to an appropriate institution (IEMA, CIWEM, CIEEM etc.)

· A Masters level qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant environmental/natural science or environmental economics

· Wider sustainability skillset
