Stantec Environmental Planning Associate Director in London, United Kingdom

Our busy Environmental Planning team has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Environmental Planning Associate Director. Ideally this role will be based in London (Soho Square) but we are open to other locations including Bristol, Leeds, Cambridge and Birmingham. The team operates nationwide and provides leading services to the energy, infrastructure, residential and commercial sectors. This is an exciting opportunity to help both develop and deliver opportunities, building on the team’s success to date, and to assist in raising the team’s profile and establishing client contacts.

About you

You will have excellent technical knowledge and understanding of environmental impact assessment best practice and the ways in which this applies to the UK Planning system.You will have proven experience of all stages of the EIA process (screening, scoping, EIA management & coordination, preparation of Environmental Statements (ES)) and post-submission/determination, within the Development Consent Order (DCO) and Town & Country Planning (TCPA) regimes.

You should be comfortable leading EIA input to the DCO Examination process on EIA matters (including speaking at Hearings, if required). You will be providing clients and colleagues with environmental planning/consenting strategy and risk advice for a range of developments, undertaking site visits (with travel to our other offices and for project meetings) when required. This is a great opportunity to work alongside and manage other professionals and specialists, such as landscape architects, transport engineers, architects and Local Authority representatives. There is also scope to be involved with other related work such as Climate Change impact assessment, Health Impact Assessment, Equalities Impact Assessment and Social Value Strategy.

We are looking for:

  • A relevant degree and membership of a relevant professional institution;

  • Current or recent experience in a senior role in a consultancy environment or in-house within a relevant industry sector;

  • A mix of real estate and energy/infrastructure EIA experience;

  • An excellent knowledge of the planning system/process ideally both the Town & Country Planning and Development Consent Order regimes;

  • Strong EIA lead consultant experience;

  • Ideally experience in one or more of the following: Climate Change impact assessment, Health Impact Assessment, Equalities Impact Assessment, Social Value Strategy, Habitats Regulations Assessment.
