Your Impact:

We are looking for people with a proven track record in environmental leadership roles for major water sector projects to join our team leading some of the largest, most complex and exciting projects in the UK.

You will have a pivotal role in major project delivery, working closely with our clients and helping to lead our environmental assessment and consents workstreams. Your experience will enable you to identify and manage risks to project delivery and maximise opportunities for efficiencies, promote innovation, provide mentorship and support technical development of our staff. You will support profile raising activities, and manage and develop positive relationships with our clients.

About the opportunity:

You will help to lead our environmental assessment and consents workstreams, working closely with our clients. Your project experience will enable you to bring together a diverse team of environmental specialists, working as part of project teams to assess potential effects, embedding environment and sustainability in the design and delivery of our projects.

Our team specialises in nationally significant projects across the UK and Europe, providing technical expertise in all areas of environmental assessment and consenting.

Our team is currently working with a number of key clients, supporting them with water resources management plan development and review, AMP7 Capital Delivery and Strategic Resource Options commitments.

We support agile careers and in addition to roles in the energy sector, we also have opportunities for you to work on wider our portfolio of projects including those in the energy, transportation (highways and railways), nuclear, and flood and coastal risk sectors.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • A degree in a relevant discipline.

  • Knowledge and experience of environmental assessment in the water sector.

  • Expert understanding and experience of the applicable environmental legislation, the EIA process, assessment methodologies, and best practice approaches for EIAs and ESs.

  • Knowledge and understanding of consenting regimes, such as the Planning Act/Development Consent Orders (DCO), Transport & Works Act, and Town & Country Planning Act.

  • Experience in leading multi-disciplinary environmental teams and providing liaison and integration across project elements.

  • Excellent communication skills and an ability and experience in engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including public and statutory consultees.

  • Strong leadership, project management and governance experience, with demonstrable commitment to health, safety and security and inclusivity, the integration of project legacy into decision making, and champion of innovative thinking to improve project and legacy outcomes

  • Chartered status and Full Membership of a recognised relevant professional body (e.g. IEMA). Where a candidate does not meet this requirement, they would be expected to achieve this within their first year.
