Job description : European Trade Compliance Import Specialist

The Trade Compliance Specialist position is vital to ensure that the requirements and business processes associated with the cross-border movements, run efficiently whilst ensuring that any risks are identified and handled optimally.

What will you do?

  • Ensure that all import and export activities align with the applicable laws and regulations, minimizing the risk of fines and penalties.

  • Classification of products, i.e. commodity codes and Dual Use Regulations

  • Facilitating import transactions – this includes importing goods from outside the EU/UK & providing classifications and instructions to freight forwarders.

  • Consulting with internal departments and functions to make sure procedures are followed

  • Liaising with and consulting with customers (internal and external to the company)

  • Support the company's compliance program by participating in internal and external audits

How will you get here?

  • Previous experience working with imports and exports in a distribution or manufacturing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of commodity code classifications.

  • Strong customer management skills (internal and external).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong communication skills – verbal, written, presentation.

  • Facility to work on your own initiative.

  • Comfortable working on multicultural team

  • Ability to work with and influence a wide range of levels in organisation, establishing positive working relationships.

  • Capability to remain up-to-date with the constantly evolving landscape of trade regulations, tariffs, and sanctions imposed by various countries.
