Utah State University Research Technician in Logan, Utah

The Ecology Center seeks a highly motivated individual with chemical ecology skills to work on a project that will involve both laboratory and field components.

  • The project will focus on the chemical ecology of Great Basin bristlecone pine and how specific defense traits affect mountain pine beetle host selection and brood success.

  • This research will include sampling and analysis of plant chemistry and insect behavior and feeding trials.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Master of Science in Entomology, Biological Sciences, Ecology, Forestry

  • Experience in chemical analyses and with analytical instruments

  • Experience with both laboratory and remote field work

  • Proficiency in statistical and database software (e.g. R, SAS)

  • Demonstrated scientific writing experience

The environment and physical requirements may change depending on the specific function of the work each department performs. Incumbents may be in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoors, in an office space, event space, or public space are protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents may nearly continuously sit and often use repetitive hand motion (such as typing).
