POSITION SUMMARY: The China Cooperative Academic Programs office (China Programs) in the Department of Economics and Finance seeks a Program Coordinator to lead a team-based office. This position requires extensive clerical ability, working knowledge of data tracking tools, and exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. The successful candidate must take initiative, approach tasks analytically, possess superior organizational and analytical skills, excel at multi-tasking, and lead effectively in meeting critical deadlines. The Program Coordinator manages the scheduling and coordination of courses for the programs in China and Hong Kong, and is responsible to monitor expenditures and prepare and balance the budget. This position manages and ensures completion of all tasks and responsibilities in the program. A critical skill for this position is the ability to read and react appropriately to the cross-cultural differences that are in the program; cultural awareness and sensitivity is crucial to effectively working with partner offices. RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide strategic and operational expertise and leadership for the China Programs. Position is full-time on Logan campus, and coordinates with four partner offices located in mainland China and Hong Kong. Travel to program sites for all aspects of program delivery, as needed. In collaboration with the faculty China Programs director, associate director, and department head, determine existing and future needs of the program including courses, objectives, workshops, and integrity of the program. Ensure the flow of critical information between the director, associate director, department head, IELI, partner offices, other departments, and China Programs advisors. In conjunction with the director and associate director, develop assessment plans, schedule administrative and lead professors teaching trips, and ensure execution of the plans. Oversee the development, delivery, and quality of the annual Summer Program. Oversee program agreement renewals with partner locations. Provide leadership and operational support for all program issues including admission, advising, program delivery, and graduation to ensure a quality learning experience for all students. Coordinate the semester schedules of each partner location and work with university departments and professors to approve local teachers and ensure weekly communications. Supervise coordination of program's on-campus transfer student advising and on-site student advising with partner offices. Develop, monitor, and maintain accurate program data and student records. Provide leadership and support of all aspects of the student advising process from new student admissions, advising, evaluation of student progress and program completion, academic standing processes and suspension, graduation, transfer student application, transfer student campus integration, and transfer student advising. In coordination with China Programs advisors and Huntsman School of Business advising office, oversee opportunities to include transfer students in Huntsman School activities and provide positive cultural learning experiences. Manage student, faculty, and employee relationships and resolve challenging issues to ensure a positive learning environment for students and a good working environment for faculty and staff both at USU and at partner locations. Responsible for organizing, planning, and setting priorities for allocation of resources with the China Programs.
