Overview The Library Building Supervisor is the primary liaison with USU Facilities for the Merrill-Cazier Library building and is a member of the Access Services unit. This position also manages the circulating technology and coordinates mail delivery. Additional responsibilities include performing general assignments and tasks associated with the daily operation of the Merrill-Cazier Library Help and Check-Out Desk and Course Reserve Desk, and assisting the student workforce.

The Building Supervisor is an exempt position (Library Manager) reporting to the Head of Access Services. The hours of the position are Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm. The Building Supervisor is also occasionally available outside regular hours to respond to building issues as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Submit, follow up with, and maintain Facilities work orders in the designated system.
  • Monitor Building Slack channels and respond to building issues.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with Facilities and Public Safety for the building.
  • Be available after hours for building problems and emergencies.
  • Work regular shifts at the service desks and supervise the procedures for opening the building.
  • Contribute to the development of library procedures, workflows, and services in the Access Services Unit.
  • Update circulating technology, including circulating laptops and iPads, with assistance from Library IT.
  • Collaborate with Library Outreach, Spaces and Exec groups and other outside stakeholders.
  • Manage the mail room and mail delivery including training student workers and updating mail reference material.
  • Complete on-going furniture audits.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in a relevant field; bachelors degree plus two years of experience; associate degree plus four years of experience; or six years of library, customer service, or clerical experience. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills

  • Experience working on a university campus or in a library
  • Customer service experience
  • Technology proficiency
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience with building management Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues and library patrons.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines
  • Organization skills and ability to be flexible with changing priorities and circumstances
  • Ability to exercise good judgement
  • Interest in learning new skills
