As an Ultrasound Technologist you will be responsible for performing ultrasound procedures to aid in accurately diagnosing disease or injury. In this role, your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Performing ultrasound examinations on patients in our facility or at bedside.

  • Assisting our radiologists with invasive procedures.

  • Utilizing your computer skills for generating reports, billing for procedures, and maintaining patient medical records.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs diagnostic medical ultrasound procedures. Exercises professional judgment in performance of procedure and patient care. Documents reasons for any variation in procedure. Communicates with referring physician.

  • Obtains patient history and clinical data for correlation with exams. Compiles exam for reading by radiologist.

  • Critiques exam for film quality and proper identification. Scans all required documentation into the RIS system.

  • Communicates with patients throughout exam. Assists patients. Explains exam to patient or responsible party.

  • Complies with OSHA and hospital infection control policies.

  • Responds to calls on various shifts.

  • Keeps supervisor informed of equipment/safety problems.

  • Identifies, transports, lifts, and positions patients for exams.

  • Performs duties of a radiologic technologist as required and qualified.

  • Recognizes patient levels of psychosocial development and modifies approaches accordingly.

  • Assesses patients for signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect and reports findings to radiologist or staff physician.

  • Follows safe radiation practices in selection of radiographic techniques and protective shielding, to self and patient in radiographic areas.

  • Performs receptionist functions and clerical duties.

  • Controls inventory and purchase of supplies as assigned.

  • Maintains cleanliness of room; stocks supplies.

  • Performs quality assurance duties as assigned.

  • Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure. Required to complete RDMS and RVT registration within one year of appointment to position. Maintains CPR (BLS).

  • Follows hospital/system and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.

  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology ​

Certifications:

  • RDMS or registry eligible (Successfully completed RDMS and RVT registration within 18 months of appointment to position).

  • Maintains CPR (BLS).

Complexity of Work:

  • Maintains competencies specific to patient population served.

Work Experience:

  • One-year experience as an ultrasound technologist preferred.
