The Director of Engineering position involves responsibility for planning and executing engineering projects for the City of Lockport and for supporting the various departments in charge of the maintenance of municipal infrastructure. An incumbent in this position serves as an advisor to all city officials, council committees and departments in City engineering matters. Considerable leeway is allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in planning projects. General supervision is exercised over subordinate staff and contractors hired to repair equipment and infrastructure or build new projects for the City

Minimum Qualifications: (a) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering and four (4)years of experience in engineering work, one (1) year involving supervision;

OR

(b) Graduation from regionally accredited or New York State registered college with an Associates Degree in Civil Engineering Technology and six (6) years of experience in engineering work, two (2) years involving supervision. (c) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b).
