Job Description:

As an Engineering Technician at L3Harris, you will be a key member of the production team supporting Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) programs including the Harris Herndon-based Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B). You will be part of the team that assembles and tests radio station cabinets that are shipped to designated site locations throughout the country. You will have the opportunity to receive on-the-job training to learn drawings and receive work instructions on production process and procedure.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform radio station cabinet assembly, sub-component assembly and manufacture, and electronic wiring harness assembly and manufacturing, self-inspection and go/no go test operations throughout the cabinet build process.

  • Test and certify equipment and sub-assemblies for installation into cabinets.

  • Perform inventory and inspection of sub-assemblies and harnesses for use in radio station cabinets.

  • Install hard drives, memory, mother boards, and peripheral boards in radio station computers, and re-programs/reconfigures radios for different functions.

  • Adapts procedures, processes, tools, equipment and techniques to meet cabinet assembly for different or unique configurations.

  • Periodically complete soldering and wire assembly.

  • Periodically lift (either single person or two person) up to 50 lbs. (22.67kg) above shoulder height

  • Read, understand, and follow work instructions closely.

  • Obtain and maintain Public trust clearance

  • Responsible for performing the physical or administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, and distribution of materials, parts, supplies and equipment.

  • Unpacks and checks goods received against purchase orders or invoices, maintains records of received goods, rejecting unsatisfactory items where necessary.

  • Holds ability to handle items (up to 45 lbs.) utilizing proper lifting techniques and material handling aids (e.g. pallet jacks, height adjustable carts, etc.) and may operate pallet jack.

  • Prepares and maintains records of merchandise shipped, received and or stocked.

  • Examines, stocks and distributes materials in inventory and on lab floor.

  • Knowledge of safe material handling practices and ability to maintain compliance with L3Harris specific Environment Health and Safety policy/procedure in regard to material handling.

    Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.

  • Knowledge of radio operation and checkout procedures to use perform functional checkout of assembled cabinets before shipment to the field.

  • Experience using large databases for issuing equipment, loading cabinet documentation data, performing RMA transactions, and other transactions preferable.

  • 2+ years of experience working in a warehouse, logistics and/or production environment.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Electronics knowledge, and acquaintance with, and understanding of, general and detailed aspects of radio and electronics troubleshooting and their practical applications to problems and situations encountered when assembling radio cabinets.

  • Knowledge of programming of IP addresses for individual components

  • Experience using work order or return materials authorization database highly desired.
