Description:

POSITION PURPOSE

Assists in creating daily therapy assignment. Maintains cleanliness, stocking, and organization on therapy units. Assists in preparing and transporting patients for various treatments. Performs routine tasks to allow time for therapists to give attention to professional duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE

  • May prepare daily schedule and/or assignment of patients for therapy team in EPIC

  • Transport patients to and from ipr IPR therapy gym as time permits.

  • Assist patient with dressing, undressing, and moving about in preparation for/post therapy sessions.

  • Assemble and places equipment and supplies for use.

  • Time treatments and or count repetitions when needed by therapist during treatment sessions.

  • Change linens on beds and treatment tables.

  • Store linens and supplies.

  • Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.

  • Routine and deep cleaning of therapy gym areas

  • Maintain temperature and cleaning logs

  • Notify clerical staff of supplies that are running low or any malfunction of equipment.

  • Follow established procedure and observes safety precautions in application and use of heat, cold, light, ultrasound.

  • Supervise exercise, balance, ADL/IADL, and ambulation activities.

  • May carry out non-skilled therapeutic exercise groups.

  • Observe and report to supervisor the conditions, reactions, and responses of patients as relates to assigned task.

  • May call pt. contact person as directed by therapist to schedule family trainings, Therapeutic Leaves of Absence, and or home evaluations.

  • May schedule family trainings or home evaluations on therapy snap board in EPIC as well as office communication board.

  • Order DME as directed by therapy team utilizing the appropriate forms and process established on unit.

  • May be responsible for assuring that patient medical claim data used for billing purposes accurately reflects the clinical care provided by the patient care department by:

  • Acquire and maintain a complete understanding of department charges and charge capture processes.

  • Perform charge reconciliation daily; resolve any discrepancies

  • Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.

  • Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, associates, and visitors to St. Joseph Mercy Health System. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.

  • Behaves in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of SJMHS.

  • Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

  • Education: High School graduate.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must have knowledge of therapy equipment and its use.

  • Must have knowledge and experience with computers.

  • Must be familiar with the organization
