Job Summary

The Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHSS) Manager will provide managerial support and subject matter expertise to ensure appropriate EHSS systems and resources are in place throughout Roush. The role will advise facility management on EHSS matters, create EHSS plans to ensure conformance with regulatory and company requirements and through education, training and a cooperative approach drive the understanding and implementation of the company EHSS policies. This position is located in Livonia, MI.  As an EHSS Manager, you will:

  • Develop and integrate specific Environmental, Health & Safety and Security (EHSS) processes, policies, and procedures in support of company-wide initiatives and direction. Evaluate and act upon new environmental and safety regulations and communicate to the workforce accordingly.
  • Lead EHSS training for the company and work with site and operating leadership to drive a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Ensure training completion is documented and appropriately maintained. 
  • Drive facility and EHSS initiatives to eliminate hazards, reduce and eliminate risks and drive continuous EHSS performance improvement
  • Serve as primary contact for regulatory agencies for inspections, permitting and reporting and maintain EHSS records as required
  • Manage and direct EHSS staff for continuous improvement and oversee the EHSS budget
  • Work cross-functionally to provide specific solutions to ongoing EHSS-related issues and participate in the investigation and resolution of significant EHSS incidents
  • Oversee and recommend security procedural and system improvements, as well as manage security systems maintenance and reporting
  • Audit Company facilities for EHSS compliance and building safety, recommend corrective actions and opportunities for improvement, and work with operational leaders and the rest of the facilities team to agree action plan and implementation
  • Support testing and evaluation of workplace hazards and security protocols
  • Lead the safety review, planning and setup requirements for any new facilities or change in use sites
  • As required, work with HR, Legal and operational personnel to investigate workplace accidents, injuries, security breaches, etc.

To be considered an EHSS Manager, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in technical discipline (criminal justice exposure, occupational safety,  environmental science or engineering or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 5 years of environmental, health, safety & security experience managing EHSS  programs and solutions in a multi-facility environment
  • Experience working in diverse manufacturing and distribution settings
  • Experience managing multiple direct reports
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of EHS management systems and their implementation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to communicate with all levels of the organization, government agencies and other outside entities
  • Strong substantive knowledge of regulations and guidance promulgated by federal and state  OSHA, EHSS management systems and workers' compensation requirements
  • Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite
