The Construction Project Manager (CPM) will support the Facilities project team by managing projects and tasks to completion within approved budget, timeframe while accomplishing quality deliverables. The CPM will develop project estimates, distribute plans and specifications for bidding, perform onsite coordination of installs to oversee project completion. The role will interact with internal teams, engineers, suppliers, contractors and external customers. *This position is based in Livonia, MI and requires up to 50% travel, which will be mostly local within SE Michigan. *

As a Construction Project Manager, you will:

  • Estimate industrial construction projects
  • Coordinate on-site construction installation with contractors and suppliers
  • Manage all activities budgets, material acquisition and their installation for assigned projects
  • Plan and schedule resources to meet project deadlines
  • Control project related correspondence and documents, including defining customer requirements to project architect, engineers and other team members
  • Maintain customer relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and quality of service
  • Mentor the project team by contributing process improvements, specifications clarification, methodology and best practices updates

To be considered a Construction Project Manager, you will need:

  • Associate's degree in Project Management or in a construction-related field and a minimum of (5) years of experience in in-field in project contractor coordination OR a bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or related and minimum of (3) years of experience in project coordination, including cost estimating, scheduling and directing contractors on-site.
  • Competency in industrial or institutional cost estimating
  • Strong skills for onsite coordination and problem-solving
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation skills
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, schedules and building codes and ability to use a tape measure for field investigations
  • Strong understanding of construction terms, scheduling and planning methods
  • U.S. citizenship allowing for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance

A successful candidate may also have:

  • Builder's License or similar construction credentials
  • Experience reading AutoCAD drawings electronically or printed
  • Experience with PeopleSoft and MS Project software
  • Knowledge of electrical or mechanical building systems
