Actalent Construction Project Engineer in LIVONIA, Michigan

Description:

Client seeking a Project Engineer or Junior Project Manager, to assist on multiple k-12 renovations and ground up builds in metro-Detroit. This position will be heavy office work (approximately 75% office vs. 25% field visits) at least to start the projects. This person will manage day-to-day engineering operations, will provide technical support for resolution of engineering issues, will document/track project info for record keeping and use during the job, and will ensure that the correct material arrive onsite, on time, and meet the project schedule.

Responsibilities:

-Process submittals and shop drawings using Project Management software (they use Timberline). Will handle RFIs (requests for information).

-Obtain and process start-up and closeout documents. Will manage and update drawings and specifications. Will document manpower minutes during job site meetings.

-Assist estimating staff.

-Shadow superintendent in the supervision, coordination, and sequencing of self-perform and sub-contractor work.

-Use scheduling software (P6) build, resource, load, maintain, and updated detailed construction schedules.

-Support Mechanical/Electrical Coordination process.

-Enforce the corporate and site specific safety policies and will track the receipt of required safety submittals.

-Only travel will be occasionally to job sites around the metro Detroit area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

-Bachelors in Construction Management, Engineering or related

-2+ years of experience in as a Project Engineer with a General Contractor

-MS Office suite skills (Excel, Powerpoint)

-Experience working for a GC or Construction Mgt company

-OSHA 30 certificate

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:

-5 plus years of experience

-Experience with higher ed, and/or k-12 projects (is not 100% required)

-Timberline and P6 experience/knowledge
